Vote for Obama!!!

There are several reasons why people should vote for Barack Obama. But there is one huge reason that stands out by far the most and that is the war in Iraq. Our president, George W. Bush, declared the war on Iraq a few years ago. After many years of the United States troops occupying Iraq, many people to this day are still quite unsure of the real reason why our troops were sent over there to begin with. There are so many people who have lost countless loved ones because of this ridiculous war. Why should our government continue to keep those that we love in what seems to be a never ending war, especially a war with no real meaning behind it? I honestly do not think that there is or will ever be a good enough answer to that question. The war is pointless. The vast amount of people dying every day because of this pointless war needs to stop and it needs to stop now. Our country cannot afford to vote for another president who will continue to lead our country in this horrible path the way Bush has. Just as Barack Obama always says, “We need change.” I highly encourage everyone to go out and vote for Barack Obama. I think he is just what our country needs right now. I believe he will lead us in a whole new direction that will be beneficial to us all. With that said, unless you want to continue to see your fellow Americans dying in a stupid war, then vote for change, vote for Obama.

A few weeks ago my fellow classmate, Adrianna Cardenas, pleaded with her readers to "Vote for Obama". In her posting, Adrianna focused on what was then, the upcoming presidential election. She used the controversial War in Iraq to try and persuade voters to vote for Barack Obama. Her logic, although she never mentions John McCain in her writing, she obviously intended to link John and current president George W. Bush. With record low approval ratings, Bush is not someone you want to be associated with in an election. I think the angle she took and the subject she picked helps her argument. In my opinion, I think actually naming John McCain would have helped paint a clearer picture of her reasoning. Also, she should have touched on other issues besides just focusing on the war. With the last eight year having been what they have been, there is a lot of material to work with. I think perhaps talking about the economy and how McCain and Bush have similar ideologies would have sealed the deal in Miss Cardenas' persuasive effort to encourage a "Vote For Change". Overall I thought it was a well presented argument and I whole-heartedly agree that Obama is a change for the better. Well done Miss Cardenas.

OK. So there are apparently many reasons to vote for Obama as the author states, but I didnt read any. One could argue that she thinks that Obama will get us out of Iraq, but fails to say so anywhere in the blog! She more or less says that Bush has done a terrible job, which I 100% agree with. But if the title is Vote for Obama, the substance of the reading really should convince me that I should go out and vote for this guy. But it doesn't come close. All I got from this was that Bush was a terrible president, and that it's well past due to get someone who can bring, "change" to the country. Mainly I am just disappointed in the lack of trying to sell Obama to me. Make me want to vote for him, not because his campaign slogan is change we need, but because he has qualities and programs and ideas that have some valitidy to them. It is indeed time for so called, "change" but Obama himself does not have any intentions on pulling troops for at least, and he said this in his debates, 18 months. So if in 18 months he decides not to, which I think he won't, he will stand for basically the same things McCain stands for. They are basically the same person and it infuriates me how everyone thinks they can only vote for 2 people each year. You pass this man off as some kind of savior and I tell you now, he is not. This man will not be able to fix the problems we have because he will stay on course with what the people before him have done. The only change guarenteed with Obama, is skin color. On a personal note, congratulations for your win. I hope I am wrong and that Obama accomplishes what he said but I really do not see it happening. We will see though...
